Sue Courtney, 63, of Ghent, KY, died on Friday morning at her home in Ghent, KY.
She was born on May 28, 1959, in Madison, Jefferson County, IN, the daughter of the late James Leslie Smitha and Mary Meeks Barr. Sue had served as the former manager of the Shell Convenience Store in Prestonville until her health declined. Sue had previously worked for Cowboys Convenience Stores, the production department of Grote Manufacturing in Madison, and she had worked as a Housekeeping Supervisor for Holiday Inn and Days Inn located in Carrollton.
Sue was of the Baptist faith and dearly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters; Nicki (Jason) Beckham of Ghent, KY, and Lacy Jo (Matt) Brawner, of Ghent, KY, a sister; Donna (Pat) Dennis of Warsaw, KY, three grandchildren; Ryan Beckham, Ella Grace Brawner and Trinity Obanion, her daughter, and grandchildren by heart; Tanya Faulkner, Gavin Pella, Jordan Raisor, Jordan Faulkner and Taylor Courtney.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters; Sherry Hoopengarner and Edith Gordon, and five brothers; Terry Hoopengarner, Jerry Hoopengarner, Timmy Hoopengarner, Michael “Mike” Hoopengarnar and James L. Smitha.
Arrangements have been entrusted with the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.
