John Wright

John Harrison “Johnny” Wright, 69, of Carrollton, KY, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, with his family by his side at his home in Carrollton.

He was born on October 21, 1952, in Carrollton, Carroll County, KY, the son of the late Charles Herbert “Hergie” Wright, Jr. and Anna Lee Miller Wright.  Johnny had retired from the Kentucky Department of Corrections as a Lieutenant at the Roederer Correctional Complex in La Grange, KY, having worked from 1981 until his retirement in 2011.  He had formerly served as a Police Officer with the City of Carrollton Police Department from 1980-1981.  Johnny had formerly served his Country Honorably in the United States Army from 1969-1980.  He had also served as Director of the General Butler State Park and Resort Campground Ministry for 3 years.

Johnny was a member and had served as a Deacon at the Cove Hill Baptist Church.  He had served in the U.S. Army Choir in Hawaii and was a Kentucky Colonel.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Patricia Ann Perkinson Wright, to whom he married on April 2, 1970, two daughters, Tracy Lynn (Bradley) Stewart of Summerville, SC, and Stephanie Dawn (Cameron) Mefford of Carrollton, KY, a brother, Billy Carol (Rita) Strausbaugh of Carrollton, KY, a sister, Denise (Gerald) Wallace of Madison, IN, a granddaughter, Lauren Nichole (Marshall) Dudley of Summerville, SC, and a great grandson, Connor Allen Dudley of Summerville, SC.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Danny Ray Wright, Ronnie Wright and Dennis Strausbaugh, and a sister, Teresa Ann Wright.

Arrangements have been entrusted with the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.
