John Cook

John Ryan “Oscar” Cook, 83, of Carrollton, KY, died on Saturday, October 16, 2021, in Louisville, KY.

He was born on March 14, 1938, in Bedford, Trimble County, KY, the son of the late John Henry Lee Cook and Julia Mary McAlister Cook.  Oscar as many people knew him had worked throughout the region as a Professional Wrestler, a Farmer, and a Bouncer.  He loved rabbit hunting, fishing, and aggravating people, and children with his humor.

Oscar will be missed by his daughter, Lillian Julia “Cookie” Smith of Carrollton, a brother, Edward J. Cook of North Vernon, IN, a sister, Mayme Adams of Cleves, OH, several grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his companion, Thelma Ruth “Boots” Barnes, six stepdaughters, Janet L. Eversole, Willetta Ochy, Jennie Long, Dora Frazier, Betty McGuire, and Martha Barnes, six sisters, Josephine Cull, Lena Brooks, Lucy Cull, Gracie Cook, Clara Gregory and Alma Callis.

Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
