James Duncan

James Wilbur “Jimmie” Duncan, 93, died on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at his home in Carrollton surrounded by his family.

He was born on October 31, 1927 in Bedford, Trimble County, KY, the son of the late Wilbur and Opal L. Horine Duncan.  He was a member of the Bedford Pentecostal Church.  He served as a church trustee and youth leader. He was baptized in Jesus’ name and received the Holy Ghost under Pastor Lura Ashley on May 31, 1942 in Madison, IN.

Throughout his long life he worked for several companies, including driving a truck for 23 years for Barber Grocery Company, Onan Trucking for 2 ½ years, Dow Corning Service Crew for 17 years and worked as a painter for over 30 years.  He also Farmed throughout his life.

He served his Country Honorably in the United States Army in Osaka, Japan during World War II.

He was a very talented singer and loved guitar player throughout this area as he sang the songs of the Lord.

He is survived by three daughters;  Connie S. Knox, and her husband; Donnie of Carrollton, KY, Sherrie D. Jackson of Madisonville, KY, and Christie L. Flynn of Carrollton, KY, two sons; James Otis Timothy “Timmie” Duncan, and his wife, Debbie of Sugar Grove, OH, and Arthur Martin “Martie” Duncan, and his wife, Carolina of Wimberley, TX, four step-daughters; Debbie Crase, and her husband, Harry of Ghent, KY, Mary Sue Mercer of Carrollton, KY, Denise Beutel of Vevay, IN, and Tina Lucas, and her husband, Billy of Owenton, KY, four step-sons; Mike Kemper, and his wife, Jodie of Carrollton,KY, Eddie Kemper, and his wife, Vickie of Carrollton, KY, Greg Kemper, and his wife, Patsy of Ghent, KY, and Carey McDaniel of Louisville, KY, a sister; Dorothy Jones of Madison, IN, ten grandchildren and twenty eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife; Sharon Duncan, his second wife; Willa McDaniel Duncan, and his third wife; Hallie Duncan, a son in – law; Rev. James Flynn, two brothers; Richard and Wayne Duncan, a grandson; Mickie Duncan and a step-son; William Carroll Wilson.

Due to Gov. Andy Beshear’s Covid19 mandates, Social Distancing will be observed and all visitors must wear a mask covering their nose and mouth.
