William Arthur Hamilton, Jr., 92, of Wheatley, KY, died on Monday evening, April 24, 2017 at his home in Wheatley, KY.
He was born on January 3, 1925, the son of the late William Arthur Hamilton, Sr. and Cecil Lane Roberts Hamilton. He had farmed nearly all of his life and also did Carpentry work. He was a member of the Dallasburg Baptist Church in Wheatley, KY, where he had served as a Deacon for 64 years, taught Sunday School and served as a Church Trustee. He had served as a Boy Scout Leader and also served as President of the Wheatley Community Center. He was a member of the Kentucky Cattleman’s Association.
He had served his country proudly during World War II., in the United States Army, 359 Infantry Platoon, 90th Division. While he was serving he received the Combat Infantry Badge, Good Conduct Medal, a Purple Heart, a Battle Star for the Battle of the Bulge and a Bronze Star.
He will be missed by his wife, Orithia Tandy Williams Hamilton of Wheatley, KY, a daughter, Rena’ H. (Butch) Kendall of Wheatley, KY, three sons, Daniel Glenn (Kathy) Hamilton of Cold Springs, KY, David Dwain (Martha) Hamilton of Wheatley, KY, and Dwight Douglas Hamilton of Wheatley, KY, a sister, Lue Ree Ball of New Liberty, KY, and a brother, Dallas Hamilton of Owenton, KY, seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Eugene and Robin Hamilton.
Burial will be in the Dallasburg Masonic Cemetery in Wheatley, KY. Military Honors will be presented by the Carrollton American Legion Post #41 at the graveside.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Dallasburg Baptist Church or the Wheatley Community Center in care the funeral home.
