Velma Hunt

Velma Joan Berkshire Hunt, age 77, of Carrollton, KY died Friday, October 2, 2015 at the Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville, KY. She was born on October 10, 1937 in Eagle Station, Carroll County, KY to Paul L. and Rena E. Wood Berkshire. She was a member of the Jordan Baptist Church where she served as church pianist, music leader and adult Sunday school teacher. Velma loved music and was a member of the Carroll County Dulcimer Club. She earned a B.S. in Education from Georgetown College and a Masters Degree in Library Science from George Peabody College. She was school librarian for 18 years in the Carroll County School System at R. B. Cartmell Elementary and also at Ninth Street Elementary School and in the Hardin County, Ky School System for 13 years prior. Velma was a member of the Kentucky and the Carroll County Retired Teachers Association.

She is survived by her husband; Obie W. Hunt, whom she married on June 9, 1973, and one son; Scott L. Hunt of Carrollton, KY. Also surviving is one niece; Melissa Lewis of Warsaw, KY, one nephew; Paul Evans Lewis of Osgood, IN, a sister-in-law; June Hunt (Paul) Prow of Evansville, IN and their children; Donald R. (Jaime) Prow of Eberfield, IN, Jeff R. Prow of Evansville, IN, great nieces; Linday Prow, Kaleigh Prow, Hannah Prow all of Eberfeld, IN, uncle-in-law; Carroll F. Hunt of Nebo, KY, one cousin-in-law; Payton (Diana) Adams of Madisonville, KY. She is preceded in death by her parents; Paul L. Berkshire, August 1975 and Rena E. Wood Berkshire, two sisters; Iris Wood Berkshire Lewis, March 1982 and Beulah Frances Berkshire, January 1933.

The Rev. John Collett and the Rev. Ronnie Banks will officiate the services.
