Strother M. Stark, 87, of Carrollton, KY, died on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Baptist Health Louisville in Louisville, KY.
He was born on July 26, 1930 in Campbellsburg, KY, the son of the late William Strother Stark and Cordelia Alice Montfort Stark. He served his Country proudly in the United States Army, having obtained the rank of Sergeant. He was retired from Kentucky Utilities in Ghent, KY, having worked in the Maintenance Department as a Maintenance Technician. Most recently he had served as a Court Bailiff for the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office. He had served as a Usher for Kentucky Speedway for many years. He had served on the Carrollton Fire Department for 62 years and on the Ghent Fire Board for 15 years.
He had served as Red Cross Blood Drive Coordinator for Carroll County for over 20 years. He was a 40 year member of the Carrollton Masonic Lodge #134 and served as Treasurer for 21 years, The Scottish Rite Chapter in Frankfort, KY, The Royal Arch Masonic Lodge , Carroll Chapter #556 and the Shriners Oleika in Lexington, KY. He was a member of the Carrollton Christian Church, where he had served as a Elder and Deacon for over 20 years as well as serving as a Sunday School Superintendent. He was a Kentucky Colonel and participated locally with “Shop With A Cop”.
He is survived by a daughter. Karen S. Lenz of Lexington, KY, four brothers, Alan Stark of Bedford, KY, Doug Stark of Bedford, KY, David Stark of Austin, TX, Danny Stark of Grant, AL, two sisters, Donna Stark of Frankfort, KY, and Janice Cochran of Bedford, KY, two grandchildren, Cody and Tucker Lenz, both of Lexington, KY.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Malora Courtney Stark on November 13, 2014, a brother, Benny Stark, two sisters, Evelyn Perkinson and Joanna Morris.
