It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our mother, Shirley Jean Reynolds Whalen. She passed away on August 28, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on March 12, 1938, in Worthville, Kentucky, she dedicated her life to the betterment of others. She was a wonderful mother to us and a great wife to our father. She deeply loved her children, their spouses, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren and friends that she met along her journey through a beautiful life. She had an energetic spirit and was loved by all who knew her. We will miss her very much.
She is survived by her daughter, Autum Whalen (Thomas) Singleton, of Miramar Beach, Florida; and her sons, Logan E. (Sandra) Whalen, of Norman, Oklahoma; John D. (Rebecca) Whalen, of Columbia, South Carolina; and Ralph W. (JoAnn) Whalen, also of Columbia, South Carolina, grandchildren; Logan "Reynolds" Whalen (Julia), Jonathan Sevier Whalen (Frances), Katherine Margaux Whalen (Arley Boyd), John Breckinridge Whalen "Breck", Shannon Rebecca Barnes (Rodney), Robert Charles Whalen, Ryan Moses Whalen, Kyle Dean Whalen (Makayla), Rachel Lee Whalen, Ralph Wesley Whalen, Jr. "Wes", JeanLuc Stewart Hodgen, Shirley "Yvette" Hodgen, great grandchildren; Lillian Eve Whalen "Lily", Georgia Katherine Whalen, Riley James Boyd, and Whalen Clarence Barnes.
Shirley was preceded in death by several beloved family members. She was the daughter of Edward Frederick Reynolds and Essie B Stewart Reynolds. Her husband, Logan Dean Whalen, and her brother, William Edward "Jiggs" Reynolds, have also passed before her.
A graveside service will take place on Saturday, September, 6 @ 1pm at the Worthville Cemetery.
