Sharon Ann Duncan

Sharon Ann Wakefield Duncan, 83, of Carrollton, KY, died on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at 7:33 A.M. At the Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton, KY.

She was born on February 12, 1932in North Madison, IN and lived in Madison all her life until December 2005. She was the daughter of the late John Otis and Viola Sampson Wakefield.

She was employed at Hanover Nursing Center, Clifty Inn, Conn Organ Company and retired from Meece, Inc due to a disability.

She was so proud of her large family. She had many interests and hobbies. She was an artist, seamstress, and avid reader. She collected campaign buttons, stamps, Teddy Bears from all over the world and "Yesterday's Child" figurines. She loved to send birthday and get well cards to friends and relatives.

Before illness prevented, her joy was traveling. She visited 12 countries, spending most of her time in the Republic of Georgia in the former Soviet Union where she was one of the founding members of "Compassion Services of Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia". She spent several months there as her daughter and her husband, Rev. James D. Flynn were missionaries there.

She was baptized at age 15 in the Pentecostal Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher for many years.

She was united in Marriage August 1, 1948 to James W. Duncan. She is survived by five children: Connie Sue Knox (Donald) of Carrollton, KY, Sherrie Dawn Jackson of Madisonville, KY, James Otis Timothy Duncan (Debbie) of Sugar Grove, OH, Christie Lane Flynn (Rev. James D. Flynn, deceased) of Carrollton, KY, and Arthur Martin "Martie" Duncan (Carolina) of Gansevoort, NY, ten grandchildren, Melissa Ann Puckett (Bill) of Carrollton, KY, Jeremy Knox (Kara) of New Albany, IN, Rev. Robbie Knox (Krista) of Madisonville, KY, Reggie Knox (Janell) of New Zealand, Rickie Knox (Ashlee) of Chattanooga, TN, Shane Otis Christopher Duncan (Jessica) of Lancaster, OH, , Nickie Mackie (Kyle) of Carroll, OH, Kendra Garner (Michael) of Sugar Grove, OH, Arthur James and Carolina Ana Marie Duncan, both of Austin, TX, twenty eight great grandchildren, Kendall, Kameron, Kallen, MaKayla and McKenna Puckett, Malique, Kyah, Uriah, Houston, Brooklyn, Dajon, Janaya, Javin, Devonte, Carmen, Kingston and Maryssa Knox, Gavin Ratliff, Quynn Otis, Zuri, Archer Lee Wakefield, Silas and Paloma Duncan , Gavin, Kyra, Karder James Mackie, Debra Ann Michaela "Mikki" and Emma Garner. She has three surviving cousins who are very dear to her Lois Schultz of Lagro, IN, David Wakefield of Prescott, AZ and Steve Wakefield of Canaan, IN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her father in 1979 and her mother in 1992; one grandson, Timothy Michael "Mickie" Duncan on July 22, 1981, and her beloved son-in-law, Rev. James David Flynn in April 2005.

The funeral was conducted by Pastor Ron Tiller and assisted by Bishop E.D. Puckett at the Pentecostals of Carrollton on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. Burial was in the Fairmount Cemetery in Madison, IN.

Memorial Gifts:

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Fairmount Cemetery for Maintenance.

The Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Visitation

Visitation was at the church from 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. on Friday, March 6, 2015 at the church and from 9:00 A.M. to service time on Saturday at the church.

Funeral

The funeral was conducted by Pastor Ron Tiller and assisted by Bishop E.D. Puckett at the Pentecostals of Carrollton on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 11:00 A.M.

Interment

Burial was in the Fairmount Cemetery in Madison, IN.
