Sam Simpson

Sam Price Simpson, 75, of Carrollton, KY., died on Monday, January 15, 2007 in Knoxville, TN. He was born in Memphis, TN., on February 19, 1931, the son of the late Jerry Weldon Simpson and Virginia (Price) Simpson.

Sam was a graduate of the Nicholasville High School and Centre College and received his Masters Degree from the University of Kentucky.

Sam was an educator in the Carroll County School System for over 38 years. During his career with the Carroll County School System he directed many Musicals and Plays for over 30 years. For his services to the Carroll County Schools the Sam Simpson Auditorium was dedicated in 2006 in recognition of his contributions to the students of Carroll County.

He was active in the Carrollton Players and the Carroll County Fair Board along with many other community events.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years Jeanne Adams Simpson, a daughter; Virginia Adams Simpson of Carrollton, KY., and one son: Sam Price Simpson II. Of Knoxville, TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, January 18, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. at the Carrollton Christian Church. The Rev. Amanda Hines and Rev. James Rucker officiated the service along with Mrs. Deborah Way Litch giving a special Tribute to Sam. Interment was at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton.

The Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home was entructed with the arrangements.

5:00-8:00 P.M. - Wednesday - January 17, 2007 at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home and from 12:00-1:00 P.M. - Thursday - January 18, 2007 at the Carrollton Christian Church
