Listen to Obituary

Richard Lee “Pete” Pyles, 72, of Carrollton, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at home on March, 26,2026. He was born on August 16, 1953, in Jefferson County, Kentucky, to the late James Lee Pyles and Wilma Jean (McCreary) Pyles.

Pete was a lifelong resident of Carrollton and a man deeply rooted in hard work and dedication. He spent much of his life as a tobacco and cattle farmer, taking pride in the land he worked and the life he built. He worked as a Floor Manager and Warehouseman, including time with Harris Farms at NAS, Brite Lite Warehouses, and Big Burley Warehouse. Over the years, he operated equipment, managed teams and contributed to operations at Carrollton Mill Services. Known for his strong work ethic and leadership, Pete was someone others could rely on.

More than anything, Pete was a steady and dependable presence to those who knew and loved him. He was the kind of man who didn’t have to step into the role of a father figure—but chose to. He took pride in the people he loved and never hesitated to let them know it. He found purpose not only in his work but in the simple, honest life he built through years of dedication.

He is survived by his longtime partner, Kristina Finn; his daughters, Danielle Finn of Phoenix, Arizona, and Brittnay Finn-Wagoner (Bart) of Moorhead, Minnesota; and three grandchildren, Mary-Kate, Blake, and Kymmy, who brought him great pride.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Lee Pyles and Wilma Jean (McCreary) Pyles and his brother Kevin Douglas Pyles.

In lieu of flowers gifts may be made to The Carroll County Animal Shelter or All Kids Play.
