Rhonda Kay Cruz was born on January 22, 1968, in Carrollton, KY and passed away on February 14, 2026, in Louisville, Kentucky. Rhonda's life was marked by an enduring love for her family, friends, and animal companions.
Throughout her life, Rhonda was known for her deep affection for all animals, especially those she rescued. She found joy in spending time with her own pets and had a special place in her heart for every creature that crossed her path. Her generosity extended to her hobbies as well; she loved shopping and cherished moments spent with her family and friends.
Rhonda was a dedicated wife to her husband, Rudy L. Cruz, and cherished daughter to her parents, William "Bill" Fancher and Verna Kay Cook . Her family also includes her stepdaughter, Sylvia Lorraine Cruz, and her stepsons, Rudy Keith Cruz and Cody Lewis. Rhonda's caring nature was further exemplified in her relationships with her siblings, including her sisters Anita Sullivan and Lisa Craig, and her brothers William Mason Fancher and Mathew Fancher.
Additionally, Rhonda held a close bond with her nieces and nephews—Carmen Sullivan, William Sullivan, Kaitlyn Kelly, Jaron Pickett, Rowen Fender, Aiden Fender, Evelyn Sullivan, Rynleigh Harris, Zerek Harris, and Kyzer Harris—whom she regarded as her own children.
Rhonda's legacy will be honored during the visitation on February 19, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 6:00 PM, both taking place at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home in Carrollton, Kentucky. She will be laid to rest on February 20, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Rising Sun Cemetery in Rising Sun, Indiana.
Rhonda Kay Cruz leaves behind a rich tapestry of love, laughter, and memories that will forever resonate within the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Carroll County Animal Shelter in care of the funeral home.
