Phillip Craig, Sr.

July 31, 1951 — December 5, 2023

Louisville

Phil was born on July 31, 1951, and was joyously received by our Heavenly Father through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ after his passing in Louisville, on December 5, 2023. He was the beloved youngest son of Thomas Franklin Craig and Velma Louise Howlett Craig who both preceded him in death as did his brother Ronald Thomas Craig. The deaths of his wife, Penny Craig, and young son of 3 years, Phillip Andrew Craig, Jr. saddened him. He is survived by his daughter, Leah (Chris) Copas of Clarksville, IN, a son, Taylor (Rachel) Browning of Vine Grove, KY, and his older brother, Stanley Louis “Skip” Craig of Ponte Vedra, Florida. Clarence “Duper” Craig, his uncle; and his cousins Karen Ogle, Georgetown, KY; Kathy Mefford and Kevin Craig of Carrollton; Kentucky; Linda Banks of Dayton Ohio; and other dear cousins. His grandparents, deceased, Noah and Hallie Jackson, Robert and Leota Craig of all of Carrollton brought joy and love unbounded to Phil and all their grandchildren.

Phil was a professional stagehand who traveled with some of the best-known bands as a stagehand and property manager. He served as property manager for numerous Broadway plays and performances for the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts. He was also an electrician and lighting technician at the Kentucky Center as well as the Kentucky State Fairgrounds.

Phil was a ready friend whose helping hand was always close by. His care for his family and friends was never-ending. A quiet demeanor was quickly broken by a ready smile. Through difficulties and trials, he never complained but was always grateful for his life and family and will be sorely missed. Rev. Stan Craig, his older brother, will preside at his funeral service to be held at the Tandy-Eckler- Riley Funeral home in Carrollton, Kentucky, at 1:00 P.M., Friday, December 8, with burial to follow in the Carrollton I.O.O.F. Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. - 1:00 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home.

As a smoker since childhood, affecting heart and lungs, his life was shortened.

Arrangements have been entrusted with the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.
