MSG. John Kennedy Geisler, 51, Ret. Army, of Turners Station, KY, died on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at his residence in Turners Station, KY. He was born on February 1, 1965 in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, the son of the late Marvin Geisler and Elsie Keith Geisler Brockman.

He graduated from Carroll County High School in 1983. He was retired from the Department of Defense as a Requisition and Issue of Supplies and Equipment Technician. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army he enlisted in 1983 at the Carrollton National Guard. He was deployed to IRAQ during Dessert Storm with the 1-BN-623d from Tompkinsville, KY. His second deployment was with the 2113rd Transportation Unit from Paducah, KY, and his third deployment was with the 149th MP Unit from London, KY. He was a Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor while serving in the Army. During his service he received the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, South West Asia Service Medal with Bronze, Dancon Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Non Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal and the Overseas Service Ribbon.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Layne Rabourn Geisler, of Turners Station, KY, to whom he married on November 27, 1993, three sons, John Geisler, Jr. of Bedford, KY, Matthew Geisler of Cincinnati, OH, and Christian Geisler of Turners Station, KY, three daughters, Michelle Devine of Campbellsburg, KY, Alayna Winburn of Louisville, KY, and Jacena Winburn of Campbellsburg, KY, his step-father, Jerry Brockman of Worthville, KY, his step-mother, Deloris Geisler of Louisville, KY, three brothers, Ricky and Danny Geisler of Louisville, KY, and Dennis Geisler of Worthville, KY, a sister, Phyllis Visser of Ogilvie, MN, four grandchildren, Hannah, Peyton and Presleigh Devine of Campbellsburg, KY, and Sawyer Hawkins of Turners Station, KY.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a infant daughter, Bethany Geisler, a grandson, John Wilson, and a brother, Daryl Geisler.

Funeral Services will be on Monday, May 23, 2016 1:00 P.M. at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home with the Rev. John Inscore Essick officiating the service. Visitation will be on Sunday, May 22, 2016 from 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home. Military Honors will be presented at the funeral home on Monday by the Carrollton American Legion Post #41. Burial will take place at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project in care of the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted with the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.

Visitation will be on Sunday, May 22, 2016 from 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be on Monday, May 23, 2016 1:00 P.M. at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home with the Rev. John Inscore Essick officiating the service.

Interment

Burial will take place at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.
