Michael Wayne Gardner, a cherished member of his community and devoted family man, passed away on November 14, 2025, after a short illness. He was born on January 22, 1948, in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio, to Robert O. and Pearl Taylor Gardner and dedicated his life to service both as a professional and a community volunteer.

Mike enjoyed a distinguished career, retiring as the Control Room shift supervisor from the Kentucky Utilities Ghent Generating Station, where his expertise and leadership were greatly valued. Additional to this, he operated Gardner Heating, Cooling and Refrigeration Co., contributing to the well-being of those around him through his trade.

He was also the ambassador for all St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church Charities, embodying the values of charity and community service that defined his life.

Mike proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. His time spent in service shaped the respectful and helpful individual he would become.

Outside of his professional commitments, Mike enjoyed many hobbies and interests. He could often be found riding the trails in his truck with members of the Southern Indiana 4X4 Club, watching his favorite television shows such as Gunsmoke and classic westerns, or playing softball with his K.U. Group, activities that brought him joy and connection.

He is survived by his daughters, Brittany S. Ford of Louisville, KY, Kristen M. (Jim) O'Neill of Bedford, KY, and Lauren C. Gardner of Bedford, KY; brothers Robert "Bob" Gardner of Cincinnati, OH and Gary Gardner of Wellington, KY; and grandchildren, Addison Ford and Elliot M. Ford.

Mike is predeceased by his beloved wife, Deborah Lynn (Aldridge) Gardner, who passed away in June 2025, his parents, Robert O. and Pearl Taylor Gardner and his sister, Janet Hitzman.
