Mary Thompson

Mary Lou Worland Thompson, 89, died in Louisville, KY, on August 24, 2016 after a long and loving life.
The eighth of eleven children she was born to Lawrence and Louise Meyer Worland on October 7, 1926 in Louisville, KY. While a student at Mercy Academy, she played piano and sang with her sisters at the USO. Her focus was on classical music, reading, dining out, learning, crossword puzzles and her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by Dick Thompson, her husband of sixty four years, her siblings, Virginia Bisig, Anne Littrell, Chris Winslow, Helen Lowe, Bert, Larry, Marion, George and John Worland.
She is survived by four daughters, Cindy Turner, Karen (Steve) DeGaris, Suzanne (Tom Elliott) Thompson and Alicia Thompson, all of Louisville, KY; two sons, Wayne and Rick Thompson, both of Louisville, KY; a sister, Jean Worland of Louisville, KY; a sister in-law, Margaret Worland of Louisville, KY; eleven grandchildren and twenty two great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the PITT Academy or Donor's Choice in care of the funeral home.
The Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Visitation
Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. at the church on Saturday, September 24, 2016.
Funeral
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. John Catholic Church.
Interment
Interment will be in the St. John Catholic Cemetery.
