Marguerite Frances Donovan Bandza
Marguerite Bandza, of Carrollton, KY, formally from Sioux City, Iowa, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, at Swiss Villa Nursing and Rehab in Vevay, Ind. after a fall in early spring.
She was born In Willmar, Mn, on August 23, 1941. Marguerite graduated from Helan High School in Sioux City, Iowa and later went on to Briar Cliff College where she graduated with a degree in Theology. She spent may years working at the Hospital in Sioux City as an Emergency Room Clerk before leaving and moving to Carrollton, KY where she worked for the News Democrat as a history writer, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She cherished working with people. She was known for her dedication to friends and community. Marguerite loved researching history, working with cats and other animals, and working in Theatre where she held many parts in plays while living in Sioux City.
Marguerite was proceeded in death by her Mother, Winifred Donovan and her father Frank Donovan.
She leaves behind her son James Bandza, Sioux City, Iowa, her sister Mary Ann Pearson (Wayne) of Carrollton, KY and her niece and nephew, Tammy Tilley (Jamie) Milton, KY and Tim Pearson (Amber), Madison, Ind., many grandchildren and 4 nephews, along with a dear friend, Lisa Meadows.
She will be remembered for her uniqueness and her love of books and research she liked to do whether it be on family or the history of different places.
The family of Marguerite would like to thank Lisa Meadows for her time and patience in caring for her. We would also like to thank many agencies throughout the city that knew her and helped when family could not get to her. It is truly appreciated.
There will not be a funeral at this time. Please respect the families wishes and know that your condolences are truly appreciated. Her ashes will be buried at a later date in the Carrollton IOOF Cemetery. Any donations are requested to be sent to The Carroll County Public Library, where she loved visiting when she could and the wonderful ladies.
