Madison Dawson

Madison Kaylynn "Maddie" Dawson, age 17, died at her home in Carrollton, Carroll County, KY on Tuesday, August 25, 2015. She was born October 3, 1997 in Merrillville, Lake County, IN to Jody Clint and Hollace Beth "Holly" Smith Dawson who survive. Maddie was a member of First Baptist Church of Carrollton and a Senior at Carroll County High School, being in the first class to graduate from the Bio-Medical program. She was also a member of the National Honor Society, the Yearbook staff, PKOM and played volleyball since sixth grade. Maddie enjoyed her friends, loved elephants and loved her dogs Carly and Campbell.

In addition to her parents Clint and Holly Dawson, she is survived by a brother, Bret Dawson of Carrollton, KY, her maternal grandparents; Ben W. and Cheryl Liter Smith of Carrollton, KY, paternal grandparents; Joe and Kathy Dawson of Carrollton, KY, maternal great grandmother; Velma Jo Smith of Carrollton, KY and paternal greatgrandmother; Velma Jean Hackney of Carrollton, KY, her aunt; Shannon Dawson of Louisville, KY and uncle; Todd Smith of Carrollton, KY. She is preceded in death by her maternal great grandparents; Curtis E. and Jessie Ogden Liter, maternal great grandfather; Ben W. Smith, Sr., paternal greatgrandfather; Virgil Hackney, and uncle Aaron Dawson.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at the Family Worship Center with the Rev. Chris White officiating. Burial was in the Smith Family Cemetery on Mound Hill Road in Carrollton, KY.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Carroll County Public Library or the Center For Courageous Kids in Scottsville, KY. Envelopes will be available through the funeral home.
