Madge Keith

Madge Kathleen Keith, 96, of Carrollton, KY, died on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at the Signature Healthcare of Carrollton.

She was born on February 6, 1922 in Carbo, Russell County, Virginia, the daughter of the late John Abraham Childress and Rebecca Meade Childress. She had worked during the World War II. Era at the Wright Company Factory near Dayton, OH, where they manufactured airplanes.  While working at the factory she went on to meet her late husband Marvin, who was serving in the United States Army at the time.  They were married on August 29, 1944 and later made their home in Carrollton and owned and operated Keith Grocery Store for many years in Carrollton.

She was a member of the Carrollton United Methodist Church and enjoyed making crafts, sewing and making her children’s clothing along with Barbie Doll clothes.  She also enjoyed cooking for her family.

She is survived by her two son’s, Mark (Ann) Keith of Winchester, KY, and Richard Keith of Carrollton, KY, a daughter, Vicki Lynn (Herman D. Sr.) Crabtree of Jackson, OH, a brother,  Doak Childress of Greenup, KY, five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Marvin Wilson Keith on June 20, 1990, her son, John Milton Keith on April 20, 1948, two brothers, John and Jack Childress, two sisters, Helen Hill and Virginia Welch and a grandson, Mark William Keith.
