Lucille Jewell Newby McMannis, age 97, a caring and compassionate woman who dedicated her life to providing care for others, passed away on November 13, 2023, at her home in Campbellsburg, Carroll County, KY. Born on September 28, 1926, Lucille drew her first breath at home in Bedford, Trimble County KY. She lived a rich and fulfilling life, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness.

Throughout her career, Lucille worked as a caregiver for many years. Her nurturing nature and selflessness touched the lives of countless individuals whom she helped during their times of need. Lucille's unwavering commitment to caring for others was a true testament to her character and served as an inspiration to all who knew her.

In addition to her career as a caregiver, Lucille had a deep passion for animals. She was an ardent animal lover and found solace in their presence. Lucille also had an innate talent for gardening and possessed a green thumb that brought vibrant colors and beauty to her surroundings. She took joy in tending to her flowers and creating natural remedies at home.

Lucille Jewell Newby McMannis will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her impact reached far beyond the confines of her immediate circle; it extended to the community where she resided. Her genuine concern for others and willingness to lend a helping hand made her a beloved figure among those with whom she crossed paths.

The services honoring Lucille's life will take place at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at 1:00 P.M. The visitation will be on  Thursday, November 16, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The interment will be in the English Cemetery in Carrollton, KY.

Lucille leaves behind cherished memories shared with her husband of 75 years, James Lee "Jim" McMannis, who preceded her in death on May 16, 2023. Together they experienced a lifetime of love and companionship, building a strong and enduring bond. Their love served as a shining example to all who witnessed it.

Lucille is survived by her son, Darrin (Darlene) McMannis of Ghent, KY, and a sister, Judy Bishop of Carrollton, KY.  She also leaves behind grandchildren Amy (Chad) Campbell, Emilee (Jody) Bess, Amanda Simeons, Jeremy (Kelli) Jines, Jason Wallace, and great-grandchildren Addyson, Bexley, Evan, Finley, Sidney, Hailey, Josh, Dylan, and Mackdalina. Their lives are forever enriched by the love and memories that Lucille shared with them.

Lucille had a deep bond with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph Newby and Pearl Alexander Newby,  her daughter, Karen Booth and her son, Dennis McMannis, her sisters Pauline Watkins and Wanda Teague as well as brothers Bobby Newby and Wilford Bain "Wick" Newby.

As we bid farewell to Lucille Jewel Newby McMannis, let us remember her for the beautiful soul she was. Her selflessness touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts. Lucille's legacy will live on through the memories shared by those whose lives she enriched.
