Leroy Palmer, Jr.

Leroy Palmer, Jr., born on October 4, 1968, in Carrollton, Carroll County, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2026, in Carrollton, Kentucky. He was 57 years old.

Leroy had been working for Phoenix Services in Ghent, Kentucky at the North American Stainless-Steel Plant.  He previously had worked for Harris Farms in Carrollton, Kentucky.

He enjoyed spending time with his dogs, watching wrestling and NASCAR.

He is survived by his mother, Ossie Irene Mertz, and his sister, June McAlister. Leroy was also a cherished member of a large blended family and leaves behind his stepbrothers Freddy Mertz, Joe Mertz, Billy Mertz, and Delbert Mertz, as well as his stepsisters Betty West, Kathy Combs, and Mary Woods.

Leroy was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Palmer, Sr.

The family will receive friends and loved ones at a visitation on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Full Gospel, located at 41 Mattick St, Carrollton, KY 41008. Following the visitation, a funeral service honoring Leroy’s life and legacy will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the same location. Afterward, Leroy will be laid to rest at Ghent Masonic Cemetery in Kentucky.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Calvary Apostolic Church in care of the funeral home.
