Leah Beck

Leah Irene Stephenson Beck, 77, of Carrollton, KY, died on Thursday, August 19, 2021, at the Thornton Terrace Health Campus in Hanover, IN.

She was born on December 23, 1943, in Carroll County, KY, the daughter of Laurel Frank Stephenson, Sr. and Pearl Vantyle Stephenson of Carrollton, KY.

Irene was raised on a farm on the Little Kentucky River and helped her father and mother on the farm in her younger days.  When her parents’ health started to decline, she cared for them until there death.  She had worked for the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in Carrollton for several years.  Irene had worked for Camp KYSOC in Carrollton as a Cook for several years and for General Butler State Park and Resort as a cook and housekeeper.  In 1970 she went to work for the Kawneer Factory in Milton for many years as a retiring as a Product Packer.

She enjoyed cooking, baking, yard work, crafts and planting pretty flowers in her yard.  She really enjoyed helping and taking care of other people.  She was member of the St. John Catholic Church in Carrollton.

On January 19, 1974, she was united in marriage to Charles Joe Beck until his passing on April 6, 2004.

She is survived by her brother, Jr. Stephenson and his wife Sue of Milton, KY, two stepsons, David Beck of Louisville, KY, Charles Beck of South Carolina, two stepdaughters, Patty Dudley of Louisville, KY and Helen Hubbard of Mt. Washington, KY, a God daughter, Amanda Walls of Carrollton, KY, a God son, Michael Abrams of Carrollton, KY, and several nieces and nephews.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her stepsister, Bessie Detmer, her special niece that she cared for, Mary Beck, an aunt and uncle.

Arrangements have been entrusted with the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.
