Kaitlin Jane Schirmer

Kaitlin Jane Schirmer, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, in Sanders, Carroll County, Kentucky. Born on Thursday, February 17, 1994, in La Grange, Oldham County, Kentucky, Katie was cherished and a dedicated family woman.

Kaitlin, also known affectionately as "Katie," was a graduate of Carroll County High School. She relished the role of a stay-at-home mom, pouring her heart and energy into raising her two sons, Wyatt Rocker Schirmer and Tucker Wayne Schirmer. Her passion for family was evident; she loved being a mother and a wife to her husband, Ben Schirmer. The love story between Katie and Ben blossomed when he proposed to her on a memorable overnight kayaking trip, reflecting their shared adoration for the outdoors and adventure.

Before embracing motherhood, Katie worked at Hometown Pizza in Carrollton and served as a Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.), roles that allowed her to support others while fostering strong connections within her community. In addition to her commitment to family, Katie had an adventurous spirit, enjoying outdoor activities such as hiking and kayaking. She also found joy in music, which accompanied her through life's moments.

Katie is survived by her devoted husband, Ben Schirmer, and their two beloved sons, Wyatt and Tucker, all of Sanders, Kentucky. She is also lovingly remembered by her sisters, Maggie Henry, Carley Skirvin, and Riley Henry; her grandparents, Lynn and David Skirvin, Vicki Metsker, Tina and Dean Henry; her brother-in-law, Taylor (Whitney) Schirmer; her stepfather, Josh Henry; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Stuart Schirmer and Penny Schirmer.

Katie was preceded in death by her parents, Ronald Jameson Metsker and Heidi Jane Skirvin, whose memories continue to resonate in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Visitation services will be held at the Family Worship Center in Carrollton, Kentucky, on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and again on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at the Family Worship Center at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Cody Brown presiding.  Burial will take place in the Ghent Masonic Cemetery in Ghent, KY.

Kaitlin Jane Schirmer will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her spirit, kindness, and dedication to her family and friends will forever remain in their hearts.
