Joseph Donald Taylor

Joseph Donald Taylor, 85, of Carrollton, Kentucky, died on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at the Signature Healthcare of Carrollton after a lengthy illness.

He was born on Friday, January 10, 1941, in Carroll County, Kentucky, the son of the late Joseph Butler Taylor and Velma Catherine Westrick Taylor.  Most people knew Joe from the Swifty Gas Station in Carrollton where he had worked many years before his retirement.  He really loved cutting up with the customers every day he was working.  He had previously worked in a factory and also did tree trimming for years.  Joe had been a resident of Signature in Carrollton for the last ten years and he had gotten to know all of the staff very well and enjoyed teasing them all the time and making them laugh.

Over the years, Joe was an avid hunter, having spent many hours hunting with his father and brothers-in-law.

Joe is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Cantrell of West Liberty, Kentucky, four sisters, Shelby Jean Richmond of Milton, KY, Berl Young of Bedford, Kentucky,  Brenda (Elmer) Smith of Worthville, Kentucky, and Cathy (James) Butters of Milton, Kentucky.  He is also survived by a grandson, Tyler Cantrell, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 12:00 P.M. at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Cammack officiating the service.  Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the funeral home.  Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton.
