Joan Young

Joan Hackett Young, 82, of Carrollton, KY, passed away peacefully at home as her loving husband of 63 years attended her bedside on Saturday, March 12, 2016.

Joan was born in Carrollton, Carroll County, KY, on November 26, 1933 to her parents Ethel Richmond Hackett and Hubert Hackett. Joan devoted her life to care and nurturing of her greatest success, her loving Christian family.

She was a homemaker and a former Math Teacher at the Carroll County Vocational School. She had previously worked for General Butler State Park and Resort at the Golf Course and Gift Shop in Carrollton. She was a former manager at Duff's Restaurant in Tell City, IN. She held the position of Women's Chairman of Carroll County Farm Bureau and attended Carrollton United Methodist Church.

Joan is survived by her husband, Robert Henry "Bobby" Young, Jr. of Carrollton, KY, her six children and their spouses, five daughters, Tanya and Joe O'Brien of McKinney, TX, Sonia and Bob Rhodes of Buford, GA, Robin and Thomas Darnall of Plano, TX, Yolanda and Octavia Tierranegra of Montgomery, TX and Dawn and Daniel Herman of Prospect, KY, a son, Robert H. III. and Crystal Young. of Frisco, TX, a sister, Betty Jean Tomlinson of Batesville, IN, formerly of Worthville, KY, a brother, Hubert Hackett, Jr. of Carrollton, KY, ten grandchildren and one great grandson also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Carroll Thomas Hackett and two grandsons, Ross Herman and Hunter O'Brien.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Hospice of the Bluegrass for their support in her final days. Special thanks to Pat, Marcia, Paige and Billy, their care made her last days comfortable and with dignity.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Carrollton United Methodist Children's Ministry at 310 Highland Ave., Carrollton, KY, 41008 Arrangements are entrusted with the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.

Visitation

The family will receive friends and family from 9:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at the Carrollton United Methodist Church, 310 Highland Ave.

Funeral

The Funeral Service will be officiated by Pastor Andrew Oakley on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the Carrollton United Methodist Church.

Interment

Interment will be in the Moffett Cemetery in Milton, KY.
