James Wilbur "Jim" Graves

James Wilbur “Jim” Graves, of Kentucky, passed away on August 29, 2026, in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky, at the age of 76. He was born on September 8, 1949, in Shelbyville, Shelby County, Kentucky.

Jim will be remembered with love by his family and all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Durbin Graves, and by their family: sons James (Angela) Graves and Kirk (Amanda) Graves, daughters Monica (Eric) Stewart and Kari (Joel) Stevens, brothers Donald Graves and Clarence Graves, and sister Tina Williamson. He also leaves behind eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild, each of whom shared in the blessing of his life and love.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley Graves and Naomi Miller Graves; his brothers, Glenn Graves and John Wesley Graves, who died at the age of four; and his sister, Ruth Austin.

Proudly, he served his Country in the United States Army, having obtained the rank of Sergeant during the Vietnam Era of which he was exposed to Agent Orange during his duties.

Jim had retired from the Dow Corning Chemical Plant in Carrollton as a lab technician.  He had served as Branch President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Carrollton, Ky. Jim was know to be an adventurous person who loved collecting coins, gardening and genealogy. He and his four brothers were known to be the First Four Brothers Eagle Scouts in the State of Ohio.  Jim was no stranger to farming and he loved to spend time raising his garden and animals.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on September 2, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1209 Highland Ave., Suite P, Carrollton, Kentucky 41008. Funeral services will be held there on September 3, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. A graveside service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, 6249 South Mason Montgomery Road, Mason, Ohio 45040.
