James Franklin "Jimmy" Mosgrove, a cherished figure within our community, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, at the age of 86 in Jefferson County, KY. He was born on August 28, 1938, in Kenton County, KY to Robert G. and Emma Estelle Cook Mosgrove who preceded him in death. Jimmy led a life filled with love and dedication to his family, friends, and the various communities he served.
A retired Transportation Manager for Dow Corning at the Carrollton site, Jimmy also had a significant career with M & T Chemicals in Carrollton. His professional life was marked by a strong work ethic and an unwavering commitment to those he worked with. In addition to his impactful career, Jimmy proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a respected member of the American Legion Post 41 in Carrollton. His military service was a source of great pride, reflecting his dedication to his country. He spent countless hours placing flags on deceased veteran's graves for many years.
Jimmy's deep faith was evident through his membership at Hopeful Lutheran Church in Florence, KY. He found strength and solace in his beliefs, and this spiritual foundation guided him throughout his life.
As a devoted husband, loving father, and doting grandfather, Jimmy was known for his strong family values. He was married to his beloved wife, Mary B. Oak Mosgrove, who predeceased him, as did their daughter, Melissa Ann “Missy” Mosgrove. Jimmy's legacy continues through his granddaughter, Caitlyn (Jacob) Clark of Eminence, KY, and his great granddaughter, Blakeley Layne Clark, along with several nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.
Outside of his professional and familial commitments, Jimmy was passionate about various hobbies. He enjoyed golfing, reading, hunting, and remained an avid supporter of all University of Kentucky sporting events. His enthusiasm extended to supporting Carroll County Athletics and the Carroll County Parks and Recreation Department, where he made a lasting impact on both the youth and the community. Jimmy was also a regular at the Waffle House restaurant in Carrollton.
Family and friends will have an opportunity to pay their respects during the visitation on August 7, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home located at 809 Highland Ave, Carrollton, KY 41008 at 2:00 PM.
Jimmy’s steadfast dedication, spirited humor, and loving nature will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. His memory will continue to inspire and uplift his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to share in his life.
