James D. Dixon

  James D. Dixon, 74, of Sanders, Carroll County, KY, passed this life on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at the Gallatin Healthcare Center in Warsaw, KY.

  He was born on September 14, 1948, the son of the late Lee Dixon and Shirley Fields Dixon in the small coal mining community of Kodak, Perry County, KY.  James served his Country Honorably in the United States Air Force obtaining the rank of Sergeant, then transitioning into the United States Coast Guard, having obtained the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer upon his retirement, receiving numerous Gold and Bronze Stars for his service time.

  After his Military career ended, he went onto work in the Kentucky Ford Truck Plant in Louisville, KY, as an assembler.  He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in La Grange, KY.  James loved raising farm animals, especially goats, fishing and hunting.

  Left to mourn his passing include his wife; Barbara Carter Dixon, of Sanders, KY, two sons’; Jimmy (Fawn) Dixon of Fairbanks, AK, and Kenneth Dixon of Clorinda, IA, a step-son; Ryan Robinson of Sanders, KY, a brother; Vincent Dixon of Jeffersonville, IN, two sisters; Barbara Campbell of Springfield, KY, and Sheila (John) Devore of Sellersburg, IN, seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

  He was preceded in death by his parents, and a stepdaughter; Gabrielle Taylor, a sister; Donna Stallard.

  In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Grace Baptist Church Missionary Fund, in care of the funeral home.
