James Brightwell

April 20, 1926 — October 24, 2015

James Robert Brightwell, age 89, of Carrollton, KY, died Saturday, October 24, 2015 at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, KY. He was born on April 20, 1926 in Ghent, Carroll County, KY to Richard (Britt) and Louise Tolliver Brightwell (Livers). He was a member of Warsaw Second Baptist Church, also attended Ghent Second Baptist Church and was a retired Union Carpenter. He served his country in the U. S. Navy during World War II. James Robert enjoyed his family, grandkids, fishing, gardening, nature and bingo.

Survivors include his daughters; Monica Noel Brightwell Ford of Warsaw, KY, Sandra Kay Brightwell Dawkins of Hanover, IN and Cynthia Jane (George) Brightwell Ashby of Madison, IN, three sons; James Robert "Brother" Brightwell, Jr. of Long Beach, CA, Mark Copeland "Marco" Brightwell of Alexandria, VA and Jay Tolliver Brightwell of Los Angeles, CA, a brother; Ray E. (Sue) Livers of Hanover, IN, a step-brother; Claude Livers of Cincinnati, OH, 16 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, four sisters; Katherine L. Cheatum, Mary Emily Scruggs, Peggy Jo Branom and Arestine Yates, four brothers; Richard L. (Buzz) Brightwell, Wilford (Brother) Brightwell, Marvin Brightwell and Eugene Butler (Turk) Brightwell and a step-brother; Emory Livers.
