Hershel “Gene” Hunter, 78, of Worthville, KY, died on Thursday, December 16, 2021, in Louisville, KY.

He was born on May 3, 1943, in Carroll County, KY, the son of the late Conn Hunter and Lilley Mae Humble Hunter.  Gene had worked in the farming industry and had also worked as a carpenter in the construction industry.  In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, painting, building things, cooking and square dancing.  He also loved Westerns and a good game of softball.  Gene was a member of the Valley Christian Church in Carrollton.

Gene will be missed by his son, Greg (Holly) Hunter of Harrodsburg, KY, two daughters, Michelle Renee’ (James) Jones, Jr. of Lyndon, KY, and Leigh Ann Hunter of Covington, KY, a step-daughter, Candi (Gary) Bickers of Carrollton, KY, a sister, Lillian Warfield of Carrollton, KY, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Emma Tingle Hunter, five brothers, Billy, Richard, Hubert, Doug and Chester Hunter, and three sisters, Mary Ellen Hunt, Agnes Smith and Frances Vic.

Arrangements have been entrusted with the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.
