Harold B. "Beezer" Schirmer, 83, of Carrollton, KY, died on Friday, July 24, 2015 at his residence in Carrollton.
He was born on August 19, 1931 in Ghent, Carroll County, KY, the son of the late Alfred and Mary Elizabeth (McDonald) Schirmer. He was retired from the former Elf Ato-Chem Chemical Company in Carrollton as a Shipping Supervisor. He was a member of the Ghent Baptist Church and the American Legion Post #41 in Carrollton. He started in 1956 as a Pitcher, playing fast pitch softball for 15 years, traveling throughout the local area and even went to state in Frankfort, KY. He was also an avid golfer.
He served his country in the United States Force, serving as a First Class Airman, from 1950 - 1954.
He is survived by two daughters, Debbie (Doug) Fothergill and Rita Westrick (companion, James Meredith), both of Carrollton, KY, four grandchildren, Jennifer Logan of Bedford, KY, Hope Fothergill of Louisville, KY, Bethany Mulhall of Louisville, KY, and Christopher Westrick of Carrollton, KY, and four great grandchildren, Cooper Logan, Conner Logan, Bryleigh Westrick and Easton Mulhall. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marlene (Washburn) Schirmer on June 11, 2011, a son, Harold B. "Butch" Schirmer, Jr., and his brother, Jack Gayle Schirmer on July 12, 2015.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Carroll County High School Girls Softball Program in care of the funeral home.
Military Honors will be presented at the Cemetery by the American Legion Post #41 in Carrollton.
Visitation will be on Monday, July 27, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home. .
