Foy Lee Denton, age 94, passed away on April 4, 2026, in Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky. He was born on February 22, 1932, in Sharpsburg, Bath County, Kentucky. His life was marked by dedicated service, both to his country and to his community, and a passion for his interests that enriched those around him.
Foy served proudly in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, a commitment that underscored his deep patriotism and sense of duty. Following his military service, Foy embarked on a distinguished career as an electrician, retiring from General Electric in 1987. Not one to rest on his laurels, he embraced a second career in real estate in Lexington, bringing his characteristic dedication and integrity to the profession.
Beyond his professional achievements, Foy was known for his love of golf and his enthusiastic support of the University of Kentucky’s athletic events. As a member of Committee 101 (Blue Coat) at UK ballgames, he was a familiar and cherished figure among fans and friends alike. Foy also enjoyed spending part of his time as a resident of Florida, a connection he maintained until 2024.
He leaves behind a loving family whose lives he deeply touched: his daughters, Elizabeth "Libby" McGlothin of Lexington, KY, and Mary Barboza of Mt. Sterling, KY; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren. Their presence stands as a testament to his enduring legacy of love and family devotion.
Foy was preceded in death by his father, Avery Denton; his mother, Christine Johnson Denton; and his wife, Patricia Lea Reynolds Denton. Their memories remain cherished in the hearts of those who knew him.
Tributes to Foy Lee Denton will be held with a graveside service on April 10, 2026, at Lexington Cemetery, located at 833 West Main Street, Lexington, KY 40508. The service will begin at 11:00 a.m. offering family, friends, and community members a moment to honor and remember a remarkable life.
