It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ernest William Boram, Jr., affectionately known as Ernie, who left this world suddenly on March 10, 2026, following a stroke. At his bedside were his wife, sons and two of his granddaughters. Born on December 22, 1952, in Indianapolis (South Bend), Indiana, Ernie lived a life dedicated to his family, his community, and his vocation.
Ernie devoted a significant portion of his career to the field of electrical work, establishing his own business where he proudly involved his sons in various electrical installations for multiple corporations. His prior experience included many years of service at Arts Electric. Unfortunately, a knee injury led to his retirement, but his legacy in the trade and his commitment to excellence remain deeply respected.
Ernie was a dedicated member of Relevant Apostolic Church in Carrollton, where he was affectionately known as the “Candyman” to the children within the congregation. His love for serving the community was evident through years of engagement, especially during the church’s annual soup dinners and the sales of homemade Easter eggs. His cheerful disposition and love made him a beloved figure among both young and old.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Carolyn Griffith Boram. Ernie is also survived by his sons, Ernest Gaylen Boram of Carrollton, KY, and William Shirley (Lisa Phillips) Boram of Carrollton, KY. his sister, Debbie (Onnie) Thrasher of Tennessee, and his brothers, Bill (Cecile) Boram of Florida and Jerry (Monica) Buchanan of Tennessee. The joy of his life extended to his grandchildren, Emily Grace Boram of Peoria, AZ, and Remington and Brenleigh Boram of Madison, IN, as well as a host of other cherished family members.
Ernie will be dearly missed by his family and friends, and his memory will shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest William Boram, Sr.; his mother, Helen Thurman; and his brother, Tom Buchanan.
Visitation services for Ernie will be held at Relevant Church, located at 2505 Highland Ave, Carrollton, KY, on March 15, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and again on March 16, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A funeral service to celebrate his life will take place on March 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in the Bedford Cemetery, Bedford, KY
Ernest William Boram, Jr. touched the lives of many, and his spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of those he loved and served.
