Dennis Charles Bessenecker, a dedicated professional and talented artist, passed away suddenly on June 22, 2025, at his home in Sellersburg, Indiana. Born on June 26, 1943, in Bettendorf, Scott County, Iowa, Dennis lived a life marked by significant achievements and cherished relationships.

He was an impressive figure in his career, having served as the Director of Sales and Marketing for the Eastern Half of the United States for the Dow Corning Corporation, Midland, Michigan. His commitment to excellence was evident during his tenure at Walter-Reed Army Hospital in Washington, D.C., where he contributed to the training and development center. He took great pride in working alongside Scooter McCray, the renowned professional basketball player, and held valuable experience at the Atlantic Underwater Testing Laboratory, Andros Island, Bahamas for a few years as well.

Dennis was a proud graduate of Midland High School in 1961 and later earned his master's degree from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo in 1968, where he also served as senior class Vice President. His educational background laid the foundation for his successful career.

Beyond his professional contributions, Dennis was deeply committed to his community and faith. He was a member of Madison Presbyterian Church and formerly Pineda Presbyterian Church in Melbourne, Florida. He sang as a tenor in the choir at both. Additionally, he was a member of the Brain Injury Alliance,of Kentucky, and served on the Board of TBI or Kentucky Traumatic Brain Injury Trust Fund illustrating his compassionate nature and. desire to support others.

Art played a significant role in Dennis's life, and he was particularly proud of his accomplishments as an artist. He created a portrait of the St. Elizabeth Church, which was purchased by former President Bill Clinton, a testament to his talent and creativity. His skill in drawing and painting extended to creating and painting one of the large stone horses for Gallapalooza, an event of the Kentucky Derby Festival. , Dennis was also on the board of the Traumatic Brain Injury Fund (TBI) . His love for music also flourished as he sang as a tenor with the Louisville Thoroughbred Chorus. He played the guitar and the banjo. Dennis was further honored as a Kentucky Colonel, reflecting his standing in the community and the respect he commanded.

He was a huge fan of Golf, and his two favorite players were Scottie Scheffler and Rory Mcilroy

In his personal life, Dennis is remembered as a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his wife, Karen Sue Shearer Bessenecker, whom he married on February 14, 2004; his son, Christopher John Bessenecker of Lovington, New Mexico; his stepson, Shane Mason of Lima, Ohio; and his sisters, Kathy (Garry) Harvey of Carrollton, Kentucky, and Pat (David) Marshall of Madison, Indiana. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Avery Mason of Lexington, KY, and Melea Mason of Jeffersonville, IN. He is also survived by his best friend, Lamont Whims of Port Charlotte, Florida.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Chester August Bessenecker and Grace Marie Johnston Klingler, his stepfather, James Klingler, and his siblings, Barbara Ervin and John Klingler.

As we remember Dennis Charles Bessenecker, we honor a man whose life was defined by his work, artistry, and enduring love for his family. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched.

Services will be at a later time conducted by the family.
