Delmar Stockdale, a retired truck driver for Roadway Trucking Co., part-time deputy jailer with the Carroll County Regional Detention Center, and a trusted driver for local auto dealerships in Carrollton, has passed away at the age of 92. Delmar was born on April 29, 1931, in Carroll County, KY, departed this life on January 12, 2024, in Carrollton, KY. Delmar's passing is mourned by his loving family and friends.

Delmar dedicated a significant portion of his life to serving his country. He proudly served as a U.S. Army Veteran during the Korean Conflict. 

Outside of his professional life and military service, Delmar was an individual full of zest and enthusiasm for life. He had a passion for square dancing with his wife Peggy as part of the Butler Generals Square Dance Club. Together, they gracefully moved across the dance floor, bringing joy to all who witnessed their rhythmic motions. Additionally, Delmar found solace in camping. 

Delmar is preceded in death by his beloved wife Peggy Fishback Stockdale, who left this world on September 27th, 2016. He also joins his parents Stanley F. Stockdale Sr. and Mary Cotton Stockdale in eternal rest. Furthermore, he reunites with his sisters Emma Jean Cossairt, Mary Frances Schaum, Margaret Inderhees, Della Jennings, an infant sister; and brothers Stanley F. "Bud" Stockdale and Lawrence Stockdale.

Though Delmar leaves behind many cherished memories with those who loved him most dearly, he is survived by numerous loved ones who will continue to hold him close to their hearts. His son, Delmar "Danny" (Lisa) Stockdale II of New Liberty, KY, stands as a testament to Delmar's loving and caring nature as a father. Delmar also leaves behind his sister Louise Fitzpatrick of Carrollton, KY.  Additionally, he is survived by his grandchildren Jenna Sue (Christopher) Burns and Jessica (Tyler) Lawson, who will forever carry on his legacy. The love he shared with his Great Grandchildren, a total of 5, will remain an everlasting gift.

To honor the life and memory of Delmar Stockdale, visitation will take place on January 16th, 2024 at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home located at 809 Highland Ave in Carrollton, KY. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects between 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Following the visitation, a memorial service will commence at 12:00 PM this gathering will offer solace and an opportunity for those whose lives Delmar touched to come together and celebrate the remarkable person he was.

Delmar Stockdale's life was characterized by hard work, devotion to duty, and unwavering love for his family and friends. While we mourn his loss deeply, we also take comfort in knowing that his spirit will remain within us always. As we say our final goodbyes to this incredible man, let us remember him for his selflessness and the joy he brought into our lives.

Delmar Stockdale may have left this world physically, but his spirit will continue to guide us as we navigate through life. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory forever be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
