Charlie had a remarkable career, characterized by dedication and commitment. After graduating from Carroll County High School in 1965, he started his journey at Atofina Chemical Company in Carrollton where he would spend 35 years before retiring. In addition to his work at the chemical company, Charlie was also a dairy farmer and served as a former school bus driver for the Carroll County Board of Education for several years.

One of Charlie's proudest accomplishments was his military service during the Vietnam Era. He served his country honorably in the United States Army. His bravery and dedication to duty were a testament to his character.

A deeply devoted family man, Charlie cherished his wife Carolyn Smith Hotfil, to whom he married on September 25, 1970. Their bond symbolized the love and companionship that endured through the ages. Together they raised their children with love and care: Tonia Leigh Smith of Warsaw, KY, and Tim Kasper Hotfil of Carrollton, KY.

Charlie will be dearly missed by his surviving family and friends. His sister Lena Marie Hotfil Banks of Zionsville, IN, and brother Billy Hotfill of Milton, KY, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren shared an unbreakable bond with him that transcended time and distance.

Charlie's genuine kindness touched the lives of many. As a member of the English Baptist Church for over 40 years, he dedicated himself to serving others in various capacities. Charlie's devotion saw him serve as a deacon for four decades within his beloved church community.

Additionally, Charlie selflessly served his local community as a member of the West Side Fire Department for over 23 years. His relentless commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of others demonstrated his altruistic nature.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Kasper Hotfil and Virginia Darnold Hotfil Buhlig, as well as his beloved grandson, Kyle Thomas Smith.
