Boyce Bailey Edens, 66, of Milton, KY died on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at his residence in Milton, KY.
He was born on January 5, 1949 in Jonesville, Lee County, VA, the son of the late Kermit Elijah Edens and Hazel Rebecca Hopkins Edens.
He was currently disabled but had previously worked for M & T Chemical Company in Carrollton as a security guard and the Kentucky State Reformatory in La Grange, KY, as a corrections officer.
He was of the Baptist faith. Since becoming disabled his wife Judy and his son Matthew, stayed by his side at home making sure he had the best loving care he could possibly have. He was a very talented person and could write and play his own songs and he wrote poetry and even had some of his poems published. He was well known for telling his "Boyce Stories", that only he could tell.
He served his country in the U.S. Army as a Military Police Officer from February 6, 1969 to December 6, 1971. He received the National Defense Service Medal, M-14 Rifle Marksman Medal, M-16 Rifle Sharp Shooter Medal, 45 Caliber Pistol Marksman Medal and the 90 MM M67 Expert Medal.
He will be missed by his wife, Judy Rae Powell Edens of Milton, KY, his sons, Wayne Lowell "Buddy" Edens of Columbus, OH, and Matthew Boyce Edens of Milton, KY, a daughter, Tammy Jo Edens - Eagan of Charlotte, NC, a brother, Leslie Darrell Edens, Sr. of Campbellsburg, KY, his sisters, Lois Jean Suter of New Castle, KY, Alma Nadine Suter of New Haven, KY, Loretta Kay Owens of Bedford, KY, Anita Carol Westrick of Milton, KY and Barbara Lynn Woods of Eminence, KY, and four grandchildren also survive along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents two brothers, Lowell Thomas Edens and Barry Marshall Edens, a sister, Jewell Annette Ramsey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given the Edens Family in care of the funeral home.
Arrangements are entrusted with the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home
Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home in Carrollton, KY.
Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, IN, with the Rev. Esstil Westrick officiating the service.
