Bill D. Mefford, 82, Carrollton, KY, died on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, OH.
He was born October 26, 1932 in Owen County, KY, the son of the late Harold and Gertrude Ennis Mefford. He was retired from M & T Chemical Company in Carrollton as a Chemical Operator and most recently a Supply Clerk. He had worked at the Carroll County Regional Detention Center in Carrollton and the former Valco's Catering Services, also in Carrollton.
He was a member of the Dean Memorial United Methodist Church in Worthville, KY, and had attended Carrollton Wesleyan Church. He was a member of the Carrollton Masonic Lodge #134 F & A.M., where was a 32nd Degree Mason, Royal Arch Masons and the Scottish Rite. He was also a member of the Carrollton Order of the Eastern Star #442.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, having entered into active duty on September 16, 1953 in Cincinnati, OH., and was released from active duty on September 15, 1955 in Fort Benning, GA. During his Military career he received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
He is his survived by his daughter, Kimberley Blackburn and her husband, Mark of Owenton, KY, and one grandson, Matthew C. Blackburn of Lexington, KY.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Frances A. Mefford on July 15, 2006, A infant brother, William Harold Mefford and a brother, Charles Thomas Mefford.
Funeral Services were on Friday, April 3, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home with the Rev. Pat Butcher officiating the service. Visitation was on Friday, April 3, 2015 from 11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton.
