Ann Mitchell Dunn, age 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 3, 2024, in Warsaw, Gallatin County, Kentucky. She was born on January 5, 1937, in her hometown of Carrollton, Carroll County, Kentucky.
Ann dedicated her life to serving others and found joy in various roles throughout her career. She worked as a telephone switchboard operator in her early years before transitioning to become a Library Assistant at the Carroll County Public Library. Ann's commitment to spreading the love of reading extended to driving the bookmobile throughout Carroll County, touching the lives of countless individuals. Later in life, she also shared her compassion at the Carroll County Health Department.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Ann's vibrant personality shone through her involvement at Carrollton United Methodist Church. She not only played the piano and organ but also lent her voice to the church choir. Her dedication to sharing knowledge led her to teach a school class at the church, leaving a lasting impact on those she taught.
Ann is survived by her loving family and friends who will always cherish her memory. She is survived by two daughters, Jenny (Kenny) Winkle of Carrollton, KY, and Amy (Michael) Oaks of Fort Thomas, KY; two sons, Jerry Alton (Frances) Dunn of Gladwin, MI, and Michael Lee (Nicole) Dunn of Carrollton, KY; as well as a sister, Jane Hoskins of Carrollton, KY. Additionally, Ann leaves behind eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren who brought immense joy into her life.
She was predeceased by her parents Roy Lee Adams and Lola Esther Mitchell Adams and her beloved husband Jerry William Dunn on November 1, 2020.
The visitation and funeral service to honor Ann's life will be held at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home in Carrollton on Friday, June 7th. The visitation will take place from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM followed by the funeral service from 1:00 PM, with the Rev. Devin Olachea officiating the service. The interment will take place in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Carrollton United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
Ann Mitchell Dunn touched the hearts of many with her kindness and generosity. Her legacy will live on through the lives she touched, and the memories shared by all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace knowing that she made a meaningful difference in this world.
