Alma Jean Smith, 74, of Ghent, KY, died on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at the Gallatin County Nursing & Rehab in Warsaw, KY.
She was born on April 6, 1942 in Wheatley, Owen County, KY, the daughter of the late Samuel B. Newsome and Josephine McKinney Newsome. She spent most of her life as a housewife and a devoted mother and grandmother. She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Carol Franklin and Judy Ann Smith, both of Ghent, KY; a son, David Lee Smith of Worthville, KY; a brother, Billy R. Newsome of Sanders, KY; nine grandchildren and twelve great - grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Hershel Smith on March 27, 2015, two sisters, Mae Avery and Emma Louise Newsome, a brother, Samuel E. Newsome.
Arrangements are entrusted with the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.
Visitation
Visitation will be on Monday, October 17, 2016 from 11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.
Funeral
Funeral Services will be on Monday, October 17, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home with the Rev. Graham Reynolds officiating the service.
Interment
Ghent Masonic Cemetery - Ghent, KY.
