Gregory S. “Greg” Howard, 51, of Southaven, MS, formerly of Carrollton, KY, and La Grange, KY, died on Monday, September 18, 2017 in Carrollton, KY.

He was born on May 24, 1966 in Carrollton, Carroll County, KY, the son of the late Donald Frank Howard and Louise Beach Howard. He was a graduate of Carroll County High School and Eastern Kentucky University, where he obtained a degree in Criminal Justice and Police Administration.  He was currently working for Corecivic as a Deputy Warden in Tutwiler, MS. He was retired from the Kentucky Department of Corrections as a Warden at the Luther Luckett Correctional Complex in La Grange, KY.  He had served as Program Administrator at the Kentucky Department of Corrections Central Office. He had served as a Warden in Bell County, KY, at the Forestry Camp, he had served as a former Deputy Warden at the Kentucky State Penitentiary and the former Acting Warden at the Little Sandy Correctional Complex. He had also served as a former Statewide Certified Commander at the Kentucky Department of Corrections.  When he lived in Carrollton he was a member of the White’s Run Baptist Church and had served at one time on the Ghent Fire Department.  He was an avid University of Kentucky fan.

He is survived by his wife, Janet DeLoach Howard of Southaven, MS, a son, Nolan Deloach of Louisville, KY, a daughter, Kaylyn Deloach of Louisville, KY, a brother, Mark Howard of Carrollton, KY, a half -  brother, Donald Howard of Lexington, KY, and a half - sister, Bernessa Howard of Eminence, KY.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton.
